When I told Social Services, they gave me the number of a women’s helpline who wouldn’t talk to me because I’m a man. When I told Children’s Services, they had no idea what to do because there were no shelters in the area for men. And when I told the police, they quietly dropped the case without looking at my 200-pages of evidence or consulting a single witness.
I can’t imagine that any of this would have happened had I been the one abusing her.
That’s awful. Men being abused is such a taboo topic, and I think there are a lot of guys in your situation where they are simply not taken seriously when they talk about being abused. But your story is just as true and valid as any woman’s story, and should be taken seriously, too.
Yes they do and most of the time they are not believed or taken seriously.
